





Indian Government organized the 3rd Voice of Global South Summit on Saturday, with the theme “An Empowered Global South for a Sustainable Future”.
The opening ceremony of the Summit was attended by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing the opening speech.
During the Health Minister Session of the Summit, Union Minister for Health Dr Thet Khaing Win joined the meeting via video conferencing. Indian Minister for Health and Family Welfare Jagat Prakash Nadda gave an opening speech at the session.
Union Minister Dr Thet Khaing Win said in his speech, highlighting the need of cooperation among the neighbouring and regional countries in health sector. Emphasizing the Universal Health Coverage as the basic foundation for health system, he outlined the need to lay down the policies to make rapid response on public health emergency.
He also stressed to carry out digital health activity in order to narrow down the gap of health care services between rural and urban areas. He also praised the Ministry’s efforts in conducting health research for providing better treatment.
Moreover, he stressed to make cooperation with the partner countries for knowledge exchange on traditional medicines. He added that the ministry plans to conduct World Health Organization STEPS Survey nationwide.
The Union Minister called for cooperation of all concerned parties for providing better health care services to the public under the theme “One World, One Health”. The forum was attended by Health Ministers and Deputy Ministers from 15 countries.
