Commemorative Event: World Breastfeeding Week and Nutrition Promotion Week

The ceremony marking World Breastfeeding Week and Nutrition Promotion Week was held at the Ministry of Health on August 15th.

Union Minister Dr. ThetKhaing Win gave the opening speech, calling for the cooperation of all concerned parties in implementing the nutrition promotion programs. During the ceremony, a video clip showcasing activities for World Breastfeeding Day and Nutrition Promotion Week was screened, followed by the presentation of prizes to the winners of the commemorative essay competition.

As part of the event, commemorative booths were on display, and nutrition was provided to children and pregnant mothers. The Ministry of Health has been organizing nutrition promotion activities since 1954, aiming to provide the public with knowledge about a healthy lifestyle, promote the health of children and women, and assist patients suffering from nutritional deficiencies.

Since 2009, these activities have been combined with World Breastfeeding Week in August. This year’s event is held under the theme “Closing the Gap: Breastfeeding Support for All.”
