Rural Development: Inspection at cotton plantations and cotton mills

Union Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development U Hla Moe made field inspection on cotton plantations in Paekan village of Pyawbwe Township on Friday.

First, the Union Minister and party met with the cotton growers at Alin Yaung Agricultural and General Business Cooperative Society where the Union Minister heard reports on cotton plantation processes and providing input assistance with state economic promotion fund by the Township Officer.

Upon the reports, the Union Minister urged cotton growers to emphasize on planting of good quality cotton seeds for high yelding, systematic farmland mantainance, providing enough irrigated water and systematic plantation system.

He also stressed the need to conduct educative talks for farmers by collaboration with related Agricultural Departments. Then, he oversaw the pre-monsoon cotton harvesting at the farms. At Sae Kan Cotton Mill and Man Yadana Cotton and Cotton Seeds Warehouse in Pyawbwe Township, the Union Minister and party inspected the mill operation processes and made instructions on producing of value-added cotton products and market penetration.

During the meeting with departmental officials from Yamaethin District Rural Development, the Union Minister coordinated the requirement on the reports of the officials. The Union Minister wrapped up his inspection tour after observing the production of seeds and test plantations at TBL Company Ltd,. in Pobbathiri Township.
