







The opening ceremony of the event for the development of school libraries and promotion of reading habit was held at Mandalay University in Maha Aung Myay District of Mandalay Region in the morning on 6th August and attended by Chief Minister U Myo Aung, Region Ministers, Rectors from the Universities, Pro-Rectors, Professors (heads of departments), Region education officer, teachers, founders and administrators of private schools and students.
First, Chief Minister U Myo Aung and party, Rector of Mandalay University Dr. Tin Tun and officials opened the arc-entrance of the event for the development of school libraries and promotion of reading habit by cutting the ceremonial ribbon.
Next, the second part of the ceremony was continued in Innwa (9) Hall of the University and the Mandalay University students opened the occasion with the song of “Let’s go Knowledge Bank of Libraries” and a video clip on “The vision for the interest of the country must strengthen and develop” was screened.
After that, Chief Minister U Myo Aung gave an opening speech.
After giving a literary talk by Writer Takkatho Maung Thin, the cash of honor was presented by the Chief Minister and party to Rector of Mandalay University, the cash donations by the well-wishers to the Rector, and the Rector and well-wishers donated books and periodicals to the Director of Mandalay Region Information and Public Relations Department.
Next, the Chief Minister and party viewed round the books and periodicals displayed at the event for the development of school libraries and promotion of reading habit, departmental display booths, photo exhibition and research exhibition booths of 20 teaching Department.
During the ceremony, IPRD Director Daw Wei Wei Phyo clarified regarding with organizing event for the development of school libraries and promotion of reading habit successfully, exhibition and contests and Mandalay University Rector expressed words of thanks. The students happily participated in the competitions and entertainment programs and the prize winners were awarded with the prizes, it’s reported.
