South Korea has officially approved the import of fresh grapefruit from Viet Nam, marking a significant expansion of market access for Vietnamese agricultural products. This makes grapefruit the third fruit, after dragon fruit and mango, to be exported to the South Korean market.
The Plant Protection Department of Viet Nam hailed this decision as a major step for Vietnamese fruits on the global stage. With a population of 50 million, South Korea represents a promising market for Vietnamese grapefruit. Currently, Viet Nam has more than 100,000 hectares of grapefruit orchards, producing more than 900,000 tons annually. Vietnamese grapefruit is now exported to 13 countries and territories.
