Due to torrential rains in recent days, KyeeOhnKyeeWa Dam in PwintPhu Township, Magway Region, has reached its maximum capacity, with water levels exceeding the spillway by over 10.1 feet as of 9:00 am on August 2nd.
The water level has risen above the dam’s full brim point of 340 feet. Officials have assured residents in the lower areas of the dam about their safety, emphasizing the dam’s durability and the continuous monitoring measures in place.
KyeeOhnKyeeWa Dam is the primary facility for storing irrigated water in Minbuu District. The increased inflow into the dam is expected to enhance electricity generation at the associated Hydropower Plant, thereby boosting the power supply to the National Grid. Additionally, the excess water has been redirected to the Mezali Diversion Weir, ensuring a sufficient supply of irrigation for year-round crop cultivation.
