






Due to the torrential rain in June in Kachin State, the Ayeyawady River rosed its critical level and the flooding was suffered in some townships of the State including State’s capital City Myitkyina. The State Government is carrying out the collecting initial survey of the damages caused by the flood and the Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan made a ground inspection with the speed boats along the Ayeyawady River in the evening on 28th July.
During the ground inspection, the Chief Minister together with the State Ministers inspected the erosion of river bank in Thida Ward and Sitapu ward, damages of the houses in river front and retaining walls, collapsing of houses including a pagoda during the erosion of river bank in the villages of Waimaw Township and gave necessary instruction to the responsible officials for the rehabilitation works.
Next, the Chief minister and party also inspected the completed sections of stone filled retaining wall, sections needed the construction of retaining wall, implementation of river bank circular road by filling ground in the low-lying area of Lal Kone ward and coordinated with the departmental officials for the extended growing trees for river bank retaining.
After that, the Chief Minister and party watched the group stage football competitions of 2024 Chief Minister’s Cup Inter-Departmental Football (Men) Tournament held in State People’s Playground in Myitkyina Township, its’ reported.
