Kachin State Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan, accompanied by Regional Government Ministers and departmental personnel, visited Strand Road in Myitkyina Township on 26th July to assess the replanting of trees for restoring the river embankment, affected by rising river levels.

The visit comes after the heavy rains in Kachin State caused severe inundation and erosion of the Ayeyarwaddy River banks, damaging residential houses. This year marks the worst flood on record, with water levels 206 centimeters above the danger level, similar to floods in 1979 and 2004.

They also greeted warmly to locals near the 'We Love Myitkyina' signboard and along the Ayeyarwaddy River banks. The Chief Minister urged collective efforts to maintain Strand Road's cleanliness and coordinated the installation of new steel railings.
