



Myanmar hosted the 4th BIMSTEC National Security Chief’s Meeting in Nay Pyi Taw on Friday morning. National Security Adviser and Union Minister for at the State Administration Council Chairman’s Office (1) Admiral Moe Aung delivered an opening speech.
Next, the National Security Chiefs from BIMSTEC member countries including Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Siri Lanka and Thailand called their statements on joint solutions to conventional and non-conventional security challenges in Bay of Bengal region.
After that, a representative from the host country Myanmar reported on the results of the Preparatory Meeting, while the Secretary-General of BIMSTEC clarified the progress of counter-terrorism and transnational crime sub-sector as well as the related sectors on national security.
Next, the National Security Chiefs from the BIMSTEC member countries cordially discussed matters on strengthening cooperation in counter-terrorism, combating drug trafficking, maritime security and cyber security challenges, sharing effective information by relevant security sectors and current security situation in the region, as well as the preparation for security challenges that may be encountered and methods to be implement.
Then, Chairperson of the 4th BIMSTEC National Security Chief’s Meeting National Security Adviser and Union Minister Admiral Moe Aung reviewed and discussed the points to implement as a priority in regional security issues and cooperate with member countries in future.
