Work Coordination Meeting: Efforts for development of e-Government System

e-Government Steering Committee held its work coordination meeting at the Ministry of Transport and Communication in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday.

Patron of the Steering Committee Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attended the meeting and made a speech, emphasizing the efforts for implementation of e-Government as the main pillar for emergence of Digital Economy, the major driving force for economic development of the nation.

Aiming to develop Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the country, Myanmar ICT Development Master Plans have been drafted in 2005 and 2010. For accelerating the e-Government works, the Myanmar e-Governance Master Plan (2016-2020) was drafted in 2016.

Based on these master plan, the respective government departments are implementing the e-Government processes. To be in conformity with the rapid changing trend of digital technologies and new policies laid down by the government, the Myanmar e-Governance Master Plan 2030 was drafted, modifying the previous master plan.

At the same time, Cyber Security Policy was released in 2023 for effective implementation of the cyber security measures to mitigate the threats of cybercrimes and cyberattacks. Moreover, plans are underway to enact Cyber Security Law to monitor the cyber security within the frame of law.

The Prime Minister stressed the importance of collaborative implementation of all departmental organizations in implementing Digital Economy and Digital Government, sharing ICT infrastructures and data. He urged all to strive for development of e-Government services, making all-out efforts to keep abreast with international community.

The meeting discussed the implementation of e-Government system, extension of internet services, capacity building of the staff, implementation for cyber security, further efforts for development of e-Government system for betterment of socio-economic status of people.
