Floods in Thayawady: Inundation at several townships in Bago Region

Heavy rain in Bago Region triggered the surge of Myitmakha River, along with the increased water level of Ayeyawady River, causing inundation in Thayawady District.

On July 24th, Chief Minister U MyoSwe Win oversaw the condition of floods in Letpadan Township, instructing the preparation measures for rapid respond soon after receding of water. In Min Hla Township, the Chief Minister met with the flood victims, and provided relief items.

They then assessed the inflow of river water along Min Hla-Moe Nyo road, and instructed for re-cultivation of monsoon paddy once the water receded. They then oversaw the damages of approach roads at four bridges on Thonesae-San Ywe Road in Thayawady Township, and durability of embankments along Myitmakha River.
