
In commemoration of the International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem, the mangroves plantation ceremony was held at the Kattalu village in Kyun Su Township of Tanintharyi Region on Thursday, with the participation of Chief Minister U MyatKo.
During the ceremony, 200 Loop-Root saplings, 1,000 Bakau saplings and palm trees were planted. After the ceremony, the Chief Minister and party visited modern salt water shrimp farming business and observed shrimp farming process and installation of 2.45 MW solar energy.
The Chief Minister and party also inspected the implementation to expand shrimp farm for increase production of shrimps. They then attended the ceremony on providing coffee and cocoa saplings to the growers at the hall of the Kyun Su Township General Administration Department.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister urged local farmers to expand coffee and cocoa plantation to be able produce value-added products for increase income of the individuals for the development of local business. During the ceremony, 20,000 coffee saplings and 4,000 cocoa saplings were provided to the farmers.
