The Myanmar National Human Rights Commission conducted an inspection at Yamethin Prison and Kin Thar (1) and (2) Production Camps on July 23rd and 24th.

The inspection team assessed whether prisoners and detainees were enjoying their fundamental rights, including access to appropriate food, healthcare, adequate purified water, and fair treatment within the court detention center, in accordance with MNHRC laws and procedures.

The inspection team interviewed prisoners to ascertain if they received personal and family-sent items, and if family visits were facilitated. They also investigated any allegations of human rights violations and cases of torture. Additionally, the team conducted private interviews with prisoners who wished to meet confidentially.

The inspection encompassed scrutiny of dormitories, clinics, libraries, kitchens, food storage, water purifiers, and sanitation systems at Yamethin Prison and Kin Thar (1) and (2) Production Camps. Based on their findings, MNHRC will draft recommendations for relevant departments to take necessary actions, adhering to MNHRC Law.
