Preparedness for disaster: Yangon Region CM inspected disaster preparedness

Yagnon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein and Region Government members inspected works of strengthening Ba-Done Peik Embankment and prevention measures for flood disaster in Ah Pyauk Town of Taikkyi Township in the afternoon on 19th July.

The Chief Minister and party oversaw the works of strengthening Ba-Done Peik Embankment and prevention measures for flood disaster carrying out by Tatmadawmen, members of Myanbmar Police Force, Fire Bregade and Red Cross Society and local residents and provided cash assistance and basic foodstuff to them.

Next, the responsible officials from the Department of Irrigation and Water Utilization Mangement and the Directorate of Water Resources and Improvement of River Systems in Yangon clarified the status of the strength of embankment, deployment of Water Sentry Stations, collection of emergency relief items and the flood disaster prevention measures.

In the responding to the clarifications, the Chief Minister gave necessary instructions including evacuation of older persons, children and livestock present in low lied area, constant monitoring and keeping alert to be ready for the evacuation, keeping water sentry in timely manner, keeping contact among the relevant departments etc.
