Man held after soldier stabbed in Paris

A man was arrested Monday over the stabbing of an on-duty soldier in Paris. The attack occurred at the Gare de l'Est station in northern Paris.

The soldier's life was not in danger, said the Interior Minister. The public prosecutor in Paris has opened an investigation into attempted murder. The suspect is a 40-year-old born in the Democratic Republic of Congo who obtained French nationality in 2006. The man was known to authorities in France over a 2018 murder that saw him detained in a psychiatric facility, police source said.
