Tourism Industry: Yangon Regional Tourism Development Forum

Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism Dr. Thet Thet Khaing addressed the opening of the Yangon Regional Tourism Development Forum on Monday at the Wyndham Grand Yangon Hotel.

The opening ceremony began with stage performances, and in her address, the Union Minister said that this forum is to facilitate the process of implementing the development of destination areas and to help the Destination Management organizations to have a comprehensive understanding of the tasks to be carried out.

Tourism industry plays a major role in the economic development of the countries. She also stressed the importance of cooperation for the development of tourism industry in Yangon Region. Also, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein highlighted establisment of the Destination Management organizations in the region and drawing the Yangon Regional Tourism Development Plan.

Then, a stage performance titles ‘Land of Blood Relatives’ was presented. And, the Union Minister and officials presented cash awards and certificates of honour to those who participated in the stage performances. This Yangon Regional Tourism Development Forum focused on role of the Destination Management Organization and tasks.
