SCO holds border defense meeting

The 10th meeting of the border defense leaders of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states was held in Shanghai on Wednesday. Representatives of member states reviewed and approved the 2025 work plan for the expert group of border defense departments and signed the meeting minutes.

They also discussed the achievements of the “Solidarity and Cooperation-2023” joint border operation, which was carried out from August to October 2023. The operation achieved significant results, capturing over 12,000 illegal individuals and intercepting more than 9,600 illegal border crossings. Authorities seized 8.8 tons of drugs and 1,178.3 tons of smuggled goods.
