Healthcare Announcement: Response to severe diarrhea outbreak in Yangon

Ministry of Health made an announcement, stating that the on-ground teams have been actively working to control the outbreak of severe diarrhea in several townships in Yangon Region, under the close supervision of the Ministry of Health and with the assistance of the Yangon Region government.

Sixty-four new diarrhea patients were admitted to hospitals in Yangon Region between 6 am and 6 pm on 9 July 2024. Among them, seven were confirmed to have severe diarrhea. By 6 pm on 9 July 2024, a total of 130 diarrhea patients have been discharged from hospitals. Although the infection rate started to decline, efforts to control the disease continue to be intensified.
