

Temperatures over many districts in Hong Kong rose to 34 degrees Celsius in afternoon on July 6th, making it the hottest “Lesser Heat” day for over a century.According to a traditional Chinese calendar based on climate variations, July 6th is the start of Xiaoshu or “Lesser Heat”, which means it’s hot but not yet the hottest period for this year.
During Xiaoshu, temperatures are rising but have not reached their peak. Showers and thunderstorms often take place during this period which will last till the 22nd of July.
