






Since the 30th of June, the water level in Myitkyina of Kachin State has surged due to record breaking Ayeyawady River flooding caused by heavy rains.
On 4th July, Member of the State Administration Council Daw Dwe Bu arrived at Nampong Air Base in Myitkyina to provide assistance and to organize rehabilitation tasks for the flood victims. First, National Disaster Management Committee received the relief items including medicine, clothes and 125,000 tuna cans donated by the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement for the flood victims.
Then, the SAC member, Kachin State Chief Minister and the state government members attended Relief items donation ceremony held at relief camp, opened at Maha Aung Myay Shwe Bo Monastery in Rampu Ward of Territory (9).
Speaking on the occasion, the SAC member encouraged the flood victims that the government will continue to fulfill the needs of the flood victims for their rehabilitation as the water level has decreased gradually.
The flood victims were provided with rice bags, instant noodle packages, tuna cans, chickpeas bag and rice boxes. Then, the SAC member oversaw the provision of healthcare services to flood victims.
Next, the SAC member, Chief Minister and party met with the flood victims sheltering at No.1 Basic Education High School relief camp in Rampu Ward, territory (7) and donated rice bags, instant noodle packages, tuna cans, chickpeas bag and rice boxes.
Then, the Chief Minister and officials coordinated requirements of the flood victims and overviewed the healthcare service provision. Later, the SAC member and party attended the Cash Assistance and Foodstuff Donation Ceremony at Manaw Shwe Pyi Hall of the assembly office in Myitkyina Township.
During the ceremony, the SAC member stressed the systematic supervision of the rehabilitation tasks and called for the concerted efforts of the local residents and the personnel for development of the state.
Then, the SAC member received 20 million kyats worth of cash assistance, 400 rice bags, edible oil, instant noodle packages and drinking water bottles donated by Myitkyina Yunnan Temple and Teinchong HongXuin Co., Ltd. The Chairman of the Myitkyina-Yunnan Temple clarified the purpose of the donation and the Chief Minister expressed words of appreciations.
