Thailand poll on plan to check diesel-engine vehicles twice a year

Thailand Pollution Control Department is planning to test the engines of diesel-engine vehicles with over 20 years old twice a year as part of the effort to reduce particulate matter (PM) 2.5 pollution.

The Director-General of the department said that automobiles account for 51% of PM2.5 emissions in and around Bangkok and, of these, 44% is from diesel-engine vehicles. She also said that public opinions gathered in the survey will be used to help determine the department’s pollution strategy.
