Celebrations at government house as Thailand approves same-sex marriage

Thai government officials and ambassadors from different countries joined the LGBTQ community to celebrate at Government House as Thailand becomes the first country in Southeast Asia to legalize same-sex marriage, in a historic parliamentary vote.

The Senate on Tuesday has approved the Marriage Equality Bill in its second and third readings. The law will come into effect 120 days after its publication in the Royal Gazette. Everyone will be able to register their marriage at district offices or local administration offices.
