Eliminating Corruption: MOC organizes awareness seminar on anti- corruption

The Anti-Corruption Commission and the Ministry of Construction jointly held an awareness seminar on anti- corruption at the Ministry of Construction in Nay Pyi Taw on Friday. Present at the occasion were Union Minister U Myo Thant, Commission Chairman U Sit Aye and other concerned officials.

At the seminar, the Union Minister emphasized the seminar's objective for the civil service personnel to thoroughly examine the damages and consequences of corruption, comprehend the legal provisions and criminal penalties outlined in the anti-corruption law and prevent issues that may lead to corrupt practices.

He highlighted the impacts of corruption, which can lead to the deterioration of a nation's administration, economy, society, and culture, block public services and reduce public trust. As the saying goes, "prevention is better than cure," preventive measures are needed to eradicate corruption.

The Ministry is actively working to eliminate corruption by establishing a Corruption Prevention Unit (CPU). Commission Chairman U Sit Aye stated that misuse of authority for private benefit is among the corruption and is an unethical act.

He urged all to act with integrity and serve the public free from corruption, with honesty and uprightness, to enhance their personal reputation, department and country.

Subsequently, the relevant officials reported on issues pertaining to the role of anti-corruption laws and investigations, the nature, causes and impacts of corruption as well as its preventive measures, respectively.
