Land Management: Mon State committees hold meetings

The (1/2024) work coordination meeting of the Mon State Vacant, Fallow and Virgin Land Management Committee and the (2/2024) work coordination meeting of the Mon State Farmland Management organization were held at the State Government office on Tuesday with the attendance of the State Chief Minister U Aun Kyi Thein.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister stressed that the government is making exerted efforts in land management to ensure the systematic land utilization in doing farming and livestock breeding businesses. Due to the population growth, it’s necessary to secure the local food sufficiency, use the farmlands effectively and convert vacant and virgin land to farmlands.

He added that the respective verification committees are found to prevent illegal farmland usage within the region. And, discussions were made on applications for obtaining the right to carry out or use the vacant, fallow and virgin lands and to convert the vacant and virgin lands to farmlands.
