Donation Ceremony: Efforts for development of libraries

A ceremony to donate books to libraries across the nation and promote the reading habit was held at the Yangon Regional Government Office on Tuesday.

The ceremony was attended by Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn. Students from the No. 1 Basic Education High School (Dagon) opened the ceremony with a stage performance and a Video clip on “From the donation of science books to the promotion of reading” was screened.

Then, Chairman of the Myanmar Libraries Development Cooperation Committee and Union Minister U MaungMaungOhn made an opening speech saying that ceremony is handover the books donated by the Prime Minister.

Then, the Union Minister handed over 3,000 copies of science books to concerned officials. Then, Myanmar Libraries Foundation Patron expressed words of thanks and Chairman of the Myanmar Film Association discussed promotion of reading habit.

After that, students from the Practicing High School (Kamaryut) and Thingankyun Education Degree College presented stage performances, and the Union Minister presented the cash award of 1 million kyats to the students.
