Religious Affairs: Title conferred to Venerable Sitagu Sayadaw

The Republic of India conferred the title of International Award for Promotion of Buddhism to Venerable Sitagu Sayadaw Abhidhajamaharatthaguru Dr. Ashin Nyanissara.

This religious title conferring ceremony took place on Friday evening at the India Center in Yangon and was attended by the Sitagu Sayadaw, Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn, Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Tin Oo Lwin, Ambassador of India to Myanmar and many other officials as well as invited guests.

In this ceremony, the Ambassador offered robes to the Sitagu Sayadaw and members of the Sangha. And, Director General of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) conferred the title of International Award for Promotion of Buddhism to Venerable Sitagu Sayadaw.
