Annual Meeting of MMCWA: Wife of SAC Chairman attended opening ceremony

The Myanmar Maternal and Child Welfare Association (MMCWA) Honorary Patron Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, the wife of State Administration Council Chairman Prime Minister attended the 33rd Annual Meeting of the association held at the meeting hall of the MMCWA Head office in Nay Pyi Taw in the morning on Thursday.

In his remark, the Union Minister for Health Professor Dr. Thet Khaing win said that out of over 54 million of country’s population, over 60% is the mothers and children. The maternal mortality rate and the mortality of new born babies and the children under five are the important health index of the country. As long as the maternal and child mortality rate can be reduced, the life expectancy of the country will become High.

Therefore, the head of State gave a guideline to prioritize the maternal and child health issue and the better health and longer life expectancy of entire people. Members of MMCWA need to carry out for the all-round development of the people’s life by pursuing the knowledge and skills changing in timely manner in the health, education, economy, social and international relations which are the major responsibilities of the association.

Next, the video clip on the activities of Myanmar Maternal and Child Welfare Association was screened. Next, the prize awarding ceremony for the winner of Regions and States Maternal and Child Welfare Supervisory Committees in the four sectors such as Education, Social, Economy and Health was continued and the honorary patron Daw Kyu Kyu Hla awarded the first, second and third prizes and consolation prizes for the excellent performance in Education sector.

The honorary patron Daw Khin Thet Htay awarded to the winners in social sector, honorary patron Daw Than Than Nwe to the winners in economic sector and the Union Minister Dr. Thet Khaing Win to the winners in Health sector.

Then, honorary patron Daw Kyu Kyu Hla took a documentary group photo together with the attendees and viewed the documentary photos of the activities of Regions and States Maternal and Child Welfare Supervisory Committees.

After that, Honorary Patron Daw Kyu Kyu Hla provided supplementary foods to the expectant mothers, gave the catch-up vaccines to the children under five and viewed the local products and traditional handiworks displayed by the Regions and States Maternal and Child Welfare Supervisory Committees.

Then, MMCWA Chairperson Prof. Dr San San Myint Aung delivered an opening speech. The association secretary explained the activities done in 2023 and the treasurer presented the 2022-2023 financial statement and 2023-2024 budget.

The Regions and States Maternal and Child Welfare Supervisory Committees submitted the annual summery report for 2023 and the attendees discussed to make meeting decisions and set the action plans.
