Back to School: Enrollment for 2024-2025 Academic Year begins

School enrollment for 2024-2025 academic year began on Thursday all across Myanmar.

The Ministry of Education has designated the school enrollment week from May 23rd to June 2nd.

To support students and families, the Ministry is providing free stationery and textbooks to all enrolled students.

Principal, Practicing High School (Kamayut), Dr. Thwe Thwe Oo said "In the previous academic year (2023-2024), over 3,500 students were accepted. We will accept all these students for this academic year. For accepting Kindergarten students, the Ministry of Education has designated five principles. They must be residents of the school’s catchment area. They will be accepted if they have siblings at the school. They must be the children of staff and teachers who are serving in this school or in schools located in this ward, or the children of staff serving in this ward. If there are any spots available after accepting students meeting all the above-mentioned criteria, we will accept transfer students."

The Ministry of Education has stipulated that five-year-old children should be enrolled in Kindergarten and six-year-old children in Grade 1.

Myint Maung Kyaw, Parent said "I am here to enroll my daughter who is going to attend Kindergarten. We have to queue to get a token to meet with the Principal. There are five principles set for accepting KG students. There is no fee collected for school enrollment."

In this academic year, new curricula will be introduced for Grade 9 and Grade 12. Teachers for these grades will receive advanced training at the central level to ensure effective implementation.

Zin Mar Wai, Parent said "My daughter is going to attend Grade 4. It is very convenient to enroll her in school. All students are provided with textbooks and exercise books, as well as stationery and school uniforms."

Grade-4 Teacher said "We have made convenient arrangements for children to be equipped with a healthy environment. We have created an enjoyable environment for children in their education."

All primary, middle, and high schools across Myanmar are scheduled to reopen on June 3rd in all regions and states, marking the beginning of the new academic year.
