British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on Wednesday announced snap general election for 4th July. Sunak made a statement outside 10 Downing Street calling a general election for the 4th of July, saying it was the moment for Britain to choose its future.
Rishi Sunak, UK Prime Minister said “Now is the moment for Britain to choose its future to decide whether we want to build on the progress we have made or risk going back to square one with no plan and no certainty. Earlier today I spoke with his Majesty, the King, to request the dissolution of parliament.
The King has granted this request and we will have a general election on the 4th of July.” In a sign that security and the economy will be key battlegrounds, Sunak said that this election will take place at a time when the world is more dangerous than it has been since the end of the Cold War.
