





A ceremony to honor the 2024 Basic Literacy Campaign was held at the Zabu Thiri Hall in Nay Pyi Taw Council on Wednesday morning.
The ceremony was attended by Union Minster for Education Dr. Nyunt Pe, Nay Pyi Taw Council Chiarman U Than Tun Oo, Deputy Minister for the Education, members of the Nay Pyi Taw Council and many other concerned officials.
Speaking on the occasion, the Union Minister stressed that it’s necessary to emphasize the education sector of rural and ethinic people to enhance the socioeconomic status of the nation. According to the 2019 interim census, a total of 4.1 million of adults in Myanmar are illiterate. In order to accelerate the development process of the nation, it’s important to reduce illiteracy rate as per year.
Providing alternative education programs to those who didn’t finish basic education due to various circumstances is an effective way to promote regional development. Jointly organized by the Ministry of Education, relevant departments and the Nay Pyi Taw Council, 40-day long basic literacy campaign is completed on Wednesday.
A total of 907 persons attended the basic literacy courses with provided by 167 instructors. Then, Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman clarified tasks to be carried out as per academic year and expressed words of gratitude for the individuals actively participating in the campaign.
And,the Union Minister presented honorary certificates to the Nay Pyi Taw Council and Nay Pyi Taw Education Offcer’s office who participated in the campaign. Then, Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman presented certificates to instructers and supervisors who volunteered in this basic literacy campaign. Likewise, the Deputy Minister presented completion certificates to those who completed the basic literacy courses.
