





Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn met with the members of the National Literary Award Selection Committee and the literary scholars from Sarpay Beikman Manuscript Award Selection Committee at the meeting hall of Printing and Publishing Department on Theinbyu Road in Yangon in the afternoon on Tuesday.
In his remark, the Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn said that this trip is took to meet with the National Literary Award Selection Committee and Sarpay Beikman Manuscript Award Selection Committee. By reviewing the advantages and disadvantages on the selection of national literary award, Sarpay Beikman Manuscript Award and the National Lifetime Awards for Literary Achievement in the previous two seasons and it’s to be urged to select systematically regarding with the award selection.
During the tenure of the State administration Council, the first prize awarding ceremony was held at Myawady Center in Yangon, second ceremony in Nay Pyi Taw and this year ceremony in December will be held in Nay Pyi Taw in grand scale.
It's nothing special to say regarding with the awards selected and decided by the literary scholars. Regarding with the selection of awards, it’s wanted to be selected with correct decision and assessments in line with the rules and laws. As the National Lifetime Awards for Literary Achievement is the one greatly dignified, it’s needed to select after much consideration and decision.
Next, the Director General of the Printing and Publishing Department clarified regarding with the implementations for the selection of literary award and manuscript award.
Then, the Chairman of National Literary Scrutinizing and Selection Committee U Kyaw Zin Nyunt (Takkatho Myat Thu) and Chairman of Sarpay Beikman Manuscript award selection Committee U Ohn Maung (Myinmu Maung Naing Moe) and attendees literary scholars discussed regarding with preparations for the award selection, status of receiving books and the work undertaking on the award selection.
Consequently, the Union Minister coordinated requirements on the reports and gave a speech of conclusion. In the evening, the Union Minister visited Photo Litho Printing factory and inspected installation of machines in the factory, work undertaking on the printing and the status of maintenance of the machines.
The Director General clarified the work implementations carrying out by the Department and the Union Minister gave necessary instructions and provided one million Kyats of cash assistance for the printing factories.
After that, the Union Minister arrived at The Global New Light of Myanmar press house and inspected the installation of printing machines, implementation for the fitness of the machines, printing house labour force and the preparations for the outside printing works apart from the printing newspaper and gave necessary instruction.
