Agriculture and Irrigation: Irrigation facilities in Ayeyawady Region inspected

Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Bo Bo Kyaw together with minister for Security and Boder Affairs inspected Kyon Ka Don field, Kyet Pha Myway Zaung embankment for protecting inflow of salty water and construction sites of irrigation gateways that can bring fresh water in Pyapon township on 9th of May and instructed the necessaries to the officials.

By doing these facilities, 29,800 acre farmlands will get access to irrigted water, with the extension of summer paddy cultivation. In the evening, the Deputy Minister and officials held a meeting with Ayeyawady Region Chief Minister U Tin Maung Win and ministers.

During the meeting, they discussed the development of agro based industries and the Chief Minister and Deputy Minister supplemented the requirements. Then, the Deputy Minister met with officers and staff under the departments of Agriculture, Irrigation and Water Utlization, and Settlement and Land Record, at Pathein City Hall.

At the meeting, cooperation in implementing for accuracy of statistics for agricultural lands of paddy and oil crops and its production data, and achieving the target yield were discussed. The meeting also emphasized the need of cooperation from farmers in an effort for agricultural development.
