World Immunization Week: CM oversees vaccination programme in Dawei

Tanintharyi Region Government marked the World Immunization Week 2024 on Friday in Dawei Township.

In this event at the town hall, Chief Minster U Myat Ko stressed that the Ministry of Health has been vaccinating children under the age of one and pregnant women and those under the age of 15 from monasteries, orphanages and relief camps where vaccine-preventable diseases are likely to occur.

The Chief Minister also called for cooperation on the vaccination programmes. And, the ongoing expanded vaccination programmes were explained. There, the Chief Minister and officials oversaw the process to vaccinate the Children and provided gifts.

It’s learnt that this year World Immunization Week celebrates 50 years of the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) – recognizing the collective efforts to save and improve countless lives from vaccine-preventable diseases and calling on countries to ramp up investments in immunization programmes to protect the next generations.
