Livestock Sector: MoALI Union Minister makes inspections in Yangon

Union Minster for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Min Naung inspected the Analysis Laboratories Division under the Department of Fisheries in Thaketa Township of Yangon Region on the 1st of May.

During the inspection, the Union Minister heard report on stages of obtaining the internationally recognized ISO/IEC 17025 certificate and the ongoing actions for the sustainability of this certification, preparations to receive inspection in October, training, monthly inspection of cold storage facilities for aquaculture processing, awareness programmes and plans.

In his response, the Union Minister urged concerned officials to increase the educational activities to provide more technology and knowledge to livestock entrepreneurs, to ensure that the results of laboratories are accurate and to comply with the guidelines for the prevention and control of aquatic animal diseases established by the international and ASEAN countries.

The Union Minister also visited the Thaketa Crocodile Farm and inspected the farming processes. Also, he inspected the Water Quality Inspection and Freshwater Research Division under the Department of Fisheries. On the 2nd of May, the Union Minister inspected the Animal Husbandry Development Division in Insein Township, heard report and gave necessary instructions.

Also, the Union Minister inspected the Beekeeping Development Division, heard report on matters including honey production and export conditions and urged concerned officials to increase beekeeping and honey production activities and expand technology sharing. There, he also inspected the honey refinery and gave necessary instructions.
