Back to home: kawkareik residents returning their homes

The combined forces of KKO (separated) Kyaw Thet group and so-called PDF terrorists attempted to penetrate into inner Kawtkareik Township through Kaung Hmu, Yankoke and Kyaung Shar Gone Villages along the Kawtkareik-Thingan Nyi Naung old route with the aim at distrupting and attacking the Kawtkareik Township and stationed battalion headquarters with excessive force and the armed battle with the members of security forces broke out for 13 times.

The terrorist insurgents after reinforcing with further forces committed the acts of terrorism such as continuing attack to the north part of Kawtkareik, firing heavey weapons from distance through the villages at the east of Kawtkareik, seeping into the outskirt of Township, setting the houses on fire and looting the properties.

Thus, Tatmadaw reenforced, launched the Counter – Terrorism Operation against the terrorist insurgents as of April 19 by obtaining help of heavy weapon firing, taking foothold stetps after steps systematically and engaged armed battle with terrorists for 9 times.

On 22nd April, Tatmadaw could recontrol that area and the terrorists retreated in disarray to Kaung Hmu Village at the north of Kawtkareik. From those battles, Tatmadaw seized some dead bodies, weapons, ammunitions and related materials from terrorist insurgents and some officers and ranks sustained wounds.

Tatmadaw military columns were in hot pursuit of terrorists insurgents and launched the military assault on them, are performing the rehabilitation works for ruins in Kawtkaraik, carrying out mine removing for the safety of local residents. Apart from these, the local residents who displaced temporarily from their homes in fear of attacking by the terrorist insurgents are being organized and the 288 households comprised of 362 men and 235 women returned to their homes till to date on 27th April and the returning is continuing.
