Paying Obeisance: Preparations for Final Rites of Late Naga Hnakaung Sayadaw

Presiding Patron Sayadaw of Naga Hnakaung Monastery in Tachileik Township, Shan State (East), State Ovadacariya Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Abhidhaja Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotika Dr. Bhaddanta Dhammasiri, passed away on 8th February. The remains of Sayadaw were placed at the Naga Hnakaung Monastery for public reverence.

On Friday, Chairman of the State Administration Council, Commander in Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing visited the monastery and inspected the arrangements for the successful completion of the final rites of the Sayadaw.

Upon their arrival, the Senior General and wife oversaw the arrangements for the conveyance of Sayadaw’s remains to the cremation place and photo booth depicting historic journey of Sayadaw while fulfilling the requirements.

The Senior General, together with his wife and concerned officials paid obeisance to the remains of Naga Hnakaung Sayadaw. They then paid homage to Members of Sangha and Mong Pong Sayadaw who managed in organizing committee on final rites and offered offertories.

After that, the Senior General supplicated the plans for the successful holding of the final rites and commemorative gallery’s display featuring the collection of Sayadaw’s accessories and took guidance from Members of the Sangha.

The Chief of Staff General (Army, Navy, Air), SAC Joint Secretary, Council members, Union Ministers and senior military officers offered offertories to those members of the Sangha who contributed in honor of demised Naga Hnakaung Sayadaw.

After that, the Senior General and wife paid homage to the remains of late reverend Sayadaw. And, the Senior General and party arrived at the final cremation place, inspected the arrangements undertaking and gave the necessary instructions.

Naga HnakaungSayadaw, Vasa 77, passed away at the age of 96 while putting concerted efforts in the Sasana propagation works. The final rites of the Late Sayadaw will be held on 6thApril in a grand manner.
