Talk on Media Toxicity: MOI UM gave a talk on media toxicity to the students

Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn gave a talk on "Preventing the risk of media toxicity" and "Nation building and the role of the media" to the students from Universities of Medicine, Medical related Universities and the Nursing and Midwifery Training Schools at the University of Nursing (Yangon), Lanmadaw Township of Yangon in the morning on 20th March.

First, the Video Clip on "Preventing the risk of media toxicity" and "Nation building and the role of the media".During the talk, the Union Minister said that from this talk, the good knowledge and perception should be acquired by the students for the future of their life.

As the attendee students to this talk will be those who serve the duties for the country in the medical field, the fake news and disinformation should be distinguished. The role of the media is paramount important in building a nation. In these days, as it’s critical period regarding with the fake news and disinformation, the students need to analyze and distinguish the fake news on the social media. The government is putting effort to overcome the difficulties occurring at the moment.

The risk of media toxicity effects on the daily socio-economic life of each and every single one. Disinformation being deluded resulted in many bad consequences such as wrong decision, false ambition, mistaken benevolence etc. The youth should prevent the disinformation with reasoning and deliberation. The Prime Minister pays great attention on the education. Currently, the information regarding with the Public Military Service Law and rumors should be considered carefully.

By keeping close eye on the disinformation, the fear and anxiety should not be borne. Every citizen is responsible to protect the country etc. The Union Minister, Rectors, Pro-Rectors and Professors presented 5 sets of DTH satellite dishes and 100 MRTV Set Top Boxes to the students by lucky drawing and the teachers and students from the Universities of Medicines, Medical related Universities and Nursing and Midwifery Training Schools were cordially greeted.

Then, the Union Minister together with the Rectors, Pro-Rectors, Professors and faculty members and students from Universities of Medicines, Medical related Universities and Nursing and Midwifery Training Schools took a documentary photo. The talk was attended by a total of 520 students from the Universities of Medicines, Medical related Universities and Nursing and Midwifery Training Schools, it’ learnt.
