Clarification: Fake news on women's military service in Hmawby Township

Fake news circulating on social media alleged that women have been enlisted for military services in certain wards and villages of Hmawby Township in the Yangon Region. However, a township official clarified that systematic awareness campaigns on the People’s Military Service Law have been conducted in these areas.

It has been emphasized that there are currently no plans to recruit women for military service. Additionally, SMS services have been provided to offer more details on the law. Furthermore, there have been reports of individuals soliciting money for military service, and the public is advised to be vigilant against such deceptive practices targeting young people.
