Development for oil crops: MoALI UM took inspection tour in Kawthoung

The coordination meeting on the production development of agricultural and fisheries sectors of Taninthayi Region was held at Minzuthaka Hall in Kawthoung Township in the morning on 17th March and was attended by the Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Min Naung, Taninthayi Region Chief Minister U Myat Ko, region ministers, departmental officials, palm oil farms companies and entrepreneurs, rubber farm owners and entrepreneurs of fisheries industry.

First, the Union Minister said that the State is implementing to grow oil crops including palm oil successfully, to be sufficient for domestic consumption and reduce import from abroad in coming years. That is why, the expansion of growing high yield palm oil from Myeik to Kawthoung, substitution of old palm oil trees with the new pedigree ones, plantation of choice of pedigree strains, preparation of cultivated land, putting inputs systematically and acquiring irrigation in dry season.

Next, the Union Minister also emphasized on the expansion of rubber plantation and choosing pedigree strain and the extending of fish and prawn breeding to conserve the marine fish resources systematically, the Ministry and the region government will provide necessary assistance, exporting marine products in line with the existing law and regulations.

Consequently, the Directors General from the departments clarified regarding with the sectors of related industries and palm oil and fisheries entrepreneurs regarding with current and future work implementations and the Union Minister and region Chief Minister coordinated requirements.

After that, the Union Minister and Chief Minister inspected the work implementations of fish loading unloading inspection camp for inshore and offshore fishing boats in Kawthoung Township and instructed work requirements to the responsible officials.

In the afternoon, the Union Minister together with the region Chief minister attended the opening ceremony of drinking purified water supply factory in 12 miles Village of Kawthoung Township in hailing and honoring the 79th Armed Forces Day.
