Soil is dry and cracked in two reservoirs in Colombia, while low water levels continue to ravage the environment.

Insufficient rainfall and high temperatures associated with the El Niño phenomenon have triggered a widespread drought of water sources, affecting reservoirs across the country. The Institute of Hydrology, Meteorology, and Environmental Studies warned in January 2024 that Colombians would continue to suffer the effects of the El Nino phenomenon until at least April of this year.
