Nat’l Seed Committee: National Seed Committee held 27th meeting

The 27th meeting of National Seed Committee was held at the meeting room of the Union Minister’s Office of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation in the morning on 12th March.

Speaking at the meeting, the Deputy Minister Dr. Tin Htut said that the Ministry will give trainings for the growth of seed experts in the country and the necessary arrangements will be made for them to have further experience in abroad.

The National Seed Committee is inspecting and overseeing for the genuine seed quality and meeting with the quality standards of the seeds to be planted. The seed sector is important for the food security, nutrition, food safety and income boosting of the farmers.

It’s also aimed for the development of seed production industry which is collaborated by the experts, local seed production entrepreneurs and farmers, for reducing amount of seeds imported from abroad and for issuing certificate of acknowledgement for the seeds imported from abroad in line with the Seed Law and procedures.
