Road Development: Construction UM made inspection on roads maintenance

The Union Minister for Construction U Myo Thant together with concerned officials inspected Yangon-Pathein road section maintenance works on Tuesday.

First, the inspection was made on the condition of 48 feet wide road upgrading works for 12 miles long road from mile post No. 5 to 17 in Yangon region which is being closely supervised by the Road Department with the BOT system from Oriental Highway Company Limited and tax collecting at the Toll Gates where the Direcotr and Director General from the Road Department clarified the work progress and ongoing works.

In return, the Union Minister said that effors are needed to prioritize the smooth access of Yangon-Pathein, Pathein-Chaung Tha and Pathein-Ngwe Saung roads while the beach comers are going to increase on the summer holidays, also road signs and markings are required to make in line with the set disciplines for the road safety of the travellers, and record of passing vehicles are needed to make systematically for the security of the people.

Later, the Union Minister and party met with the Ayeyarwaddy Region Chief Minister and inspected the maintenance works including the asphalt sealing and repairing shoulders along the Yangon-Pathein road where the director of the road department of Ayeyarwaddy region reported the work measures that are being taken and to be taken.

And on which, the Union Minister said that Yangon-Pathein road is a main road connecting Yangon and Ayeyarwaddy regions and also is directly connecting to East-West Corridor. The maintenance work plans were implemented in 2023-24 FY when the roads occured damages while Irrawaddy region is a region with a lot of rain.

Therefore, qulity maintenance works are needed and the road upgradig works are going to be implemented by the fiscsal years, he added. Afterwards, the Union Minister and region chief minister and party arrived the concrete road upgrading project site at Mile post 88 to 89 on Yangon-Pathein road where the responsible officials made clarification at the project briefing hall.

Later, the Union Minister and region chief minister continued to inspect target conditions for the road upgrading and expansion works at the entrance of Pathein Township and made discussion on the upgrading works for Pathein-Chuang Tha adn Pathein-Ngwe Saung roads to be able to implement in the coming years.
