



Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attended a coordination meeting for cotton cultivation and development of textile and garment industries on Friday.
In his speech, the Prime Minister discussed that although the country is cultivating cotton, systematic production has not yet been seen. He emphasized to produce finished products using the raw material cotton so as to reduce the import of garments, resulting in the creation of employment opportunities.
Members of the State Administration Council Lt-Gen Nyo Saw, the Union Ministers and attendees provided update reports on cultivation and yielding of cotton, job creation, operation process of state owned and private cotton mills, import of raw materials, and exports of cotton.
In response to the reports, the Prime Minister discussed the need to provide market opportunities for locally produced products, and at the same time, high quality cotton species have to be cultivated for boosting production. He also stressed the need to provide necessary equipment for producing cotton thread and textile using the raw material cottons. He urged all to invite private sector for successful implementation of the tasks.
