EU hits Apple with 1.8 bn euro ($1.9 bn) antitrust fine

The European Union on Monday hit Apple with a 1.8-billion-euro fine for violating the bloc's laws by preventing music streaming services from informing users about subscription options outside of its App Store.

The Commission said in a statement that Apple applied restrictions on app developers preventing them from informing iOS users about alternative and cheaper music subscription services available outside of the app and this is illegal under EU antitrust rules."
