A coordination meeting of the Private School Supervisory Board and the Regional Supervisory Committee took place at the Ministry of Education in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday.
Union Minister Dr. NyuntPe, in his capacity as the Board Chair, gave an opening speech, stating that according to the Private Education Law, all private schools must register within one year after enactment. Guidelines for the registration process have been issued to facilitate this before the enactment of the by-laws.
A significant aspect of the law is the inclusion of Myanmar subjects, history, and geography in the existing syllabus of international schools, aiming to instill patriotic fervor and preserve Myanmar culture. Additionally, all private schools are required to practice singing the national anthem and saluting the state flag.
The Union Minister urged all attendees to carry out their tasks with united efforts, despite challenges. The Private Education Law was enacted as State Administration Council Law No. 50/2023 on May 12, 2023. Unlike the previous Private School Registration Law, which only covered registration for schools teaching the local syllabus, the newly enacted law extends the registration process to international schools, higher education institutions, and technological and vocational schools.
