Coordination meeting: List of agro and livestock production discussed

A coordination meeting for compiling list of agro and livestock production was conducted at the Ministry of Industry on Tuesday. Present at the meeting were the Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Min Naung, Union Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development U Hla Moe, Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Khin Maung Yi, Union Minister for Industry Dr. Charlie Than, Deputy Minister U Yin Maung Nyunt and other relevant officials in person.

The meeting was also attended by Regions and States Chief Ministers, Chairmen of Danu and Pa-O Self Administered Zones through virtual system. At the meeting, the Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation said that the meeting intends to determine MSME products for boosting domestic production from the first, second and third level to the branded level and increase export.

He added that preliminary discussions and negotiations regarding the works to be implemented in each Region/State have been done and the Ministry will be carried out immediately to acquireland necessary for increasing agricultural and livestock activities in accordance with the rules and regulations.

Then, the Union Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development U Hla Moe stressed that the Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory, various Regions and States need to scrutinize MSME businesses based on the agricultural and livestock products manufactured in each region and plans are underway to grant loans to those potential businesses for boosting domestic production and exports.

And, the Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation emphasized the work undertaking of the ministry for the development the forestry sector and its products. He said that arrangements are being made to export Myanmar’s salt to the Republic of Korea. He gave brief discussion to systematically consider for the need of raw materials regarding timber-based industries and to domestically produce value-added bird nests. After discussion, the Union Minister underlined the Ministry’s efforts for MSMEs development.

 Furthermore, the Union Minister for Industry said that the Ministries of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, Cooperatives and Rural Development, Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation and Industry have already compiled a report related to agro and livestock production according to the guidelines of Chairman of the State Administration Council and distributed reports to the Chief Ministers of the Regions and States as well as Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman.

He then called for the collaborative efforts for sector-wise discussions on domestic production, import substitution, domestic sufficiency, export and chosen products. Action plans have been drawn up to implement One Region One Product (OROP), the Union Minister added.

 Then, the Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman and Regions and States Chief Ministers gave additional report for MSME development, implementation status of OROP and current operations of MSMEs enterprises respectively. After the closing remarks of the Union Ministers, the meeting was concluded.
