Agricultural Sector : Farmers observed Strip Cropping System

The demonstration of Strip Cropping System for educating the farmers was conducted at model plantation plot in Begone Village in Pubbathiri Township of Nay Pyi Taw in the morning on 24th January and observed by 40 farmers from 17 villages of Paung Township under the arrangement of Mon State Government.

A study group led by farmer U Than Tun was clarified the research of growing 18 crops in strip cropping system and the importance of agricultural methods which are able to resist the impact of climate change by the Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr. Tin Htut and Director General Dr. Ye Tint Tun of the Department of Agriculture.

Next, the Deputy Minister and officials took the observer farmers round the growing 18 crops in strip cropping system and clarified the necessaries. Then, the Deputy Minister and observer farmers are observed the experimental plantation of crop groups which can be grown as triple cropping, Director General U Naing Kyi Win of the Department of Agricultural Research clarified and answered the questions of the farmers.

Afterward, the observer farmers observed the demonstration of paddy transplanting with hand-held rice trans planter manufactured by Ingone Agricultural Factory and the farmers participated in the trial using of transplanter and attended the clarification of Saturday farmer technical discussion.

Then, they also observed the Seed Bank of the Department of Agricultural Research, Post-Harvest Research Institute (PHRI), Mechanized Agricultural Training Center (Yayzin) and the making compost with ventilating system.

Then, the observer farmers also looked the summer paddy field planted with seeder, vegetable GAP model plantation in Pyinmana Township and trial seeds compered plantations in Zabuthiri Township.
