Spreading Disinformation: Fake news on incidents in Mon State

Destructive Media outlets are intentionally spreading misinformation on social media platforms claiming that a monastery and a pagoda in Win Tar Pan Village, Belin Township of Mon State were damaged by a heavy weapon attack launched by Tatmadaw on 15th January.

In response to this baseless claim, a local security officer said that insurgents and PDF terrorist group launched heavy and small weapon attacks to a security force location near Win Tar Pan Village resulting in explosions in residential areas. 

Likewise, malicious destructive medias are deliberately spreading fake news on social media platforms alleging that 2 civilians were injured due to heavy weapon attack launched by Tatmadaw in ThoneGwa village, Theinzayat Township in Mon State on 16th January.

However, a respective security officer refuted that there was no security operation in Theinzayat Township on 16th January. Illegal destructive media outlets are spreading misinformation with the malicious intention to harm the peace and stability across the nation and to mislead the public perception of security forces.
