



Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn attended a discussion under the topic of “The Role of Media in Building a Nation” at the Convocation Hall of the Yezin Agricultural University in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday. First, a documentary video clip on preventing risk of media poisoning and the role of media in building a nation was screened.
In his discussion, the Union Minister stressed that the destructive media outlets are deliberately spreading misinformation through social media platforms with the malicious intention to harm the peace and stability of the nation. He urged the students to read newspapers and to access websites published by the Ministry for the true information about the events happening across the country.
He also emphasized the concerted efforts of every citizen in eliminating destructive acts committed by the insurgents and terrorist groups to ensure the peace and prosperity of the nation. Then, the Rector of the Yezin Agricultural University Dr. Nan Sai Hom expressed words of gratitude.
During the event, the Union Minister provided 5 MRTV DTH satellite dishes and 65 DVB T2 Set Top Boxes to the faculty members and students by drawing lots.
