U.S., UK launch strikes against Houthi military targets in Yemen

The United States and Britain launched strikes from the air and sea against Houthi military targets in Yemen on early Friday.

US President Joe Biden described the joint strikes as "defensive" and warned of further measures if the Houthi rebels kept attacking Red Sea shipping.

The Friday morning strikes are the first since the Houthi group started targeting international shipping in the Red Sea late last year. This week, the two countries forces shot down 18 drones and three missiles fired by Houthi rebels in the Red Sea.
